At Food Intuition it is our passion to create wholesome nutritious meals that are packed with flavour and diversity. We enjoy getting to know local farmers, fishermen, butchers, gardeners and businesses in Nova Scotia and doing our best to support as many as possible. Learning who they are is just one aspect of our priority, and learning how they grow, harvest and process their product is another.
As important as it is for you to know where your food comes from, it is just as important to us. We will always source the best ingredients to ensure that you are getting the best.

Hello everyone! My name is Kim MacPherson and I am the owner of Food Intuition. My love for food is not something that has just come over night, and neither has the idea of this business.
Since I could walk I have always found myself with soil between my fingers, and loving the sight of plants growing naturally in front of me. Having grown up on a farm my appreciation for people growing their own food came early and has since driven many of my decisions in life to know where my food comes from and the processes it entails. In my early years I spent a lot of time with my mother in the garden or helping her get the groceries needed to feed our very large family. This gave me my bearings around food and created that comfortable feeling when I’m in a kitchen.
From studying culinary arts in Niagara, Ontario and making my way through different styles of restaurants across Canada, I went back to school to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. Although the idea and passion for sourcing local food started for me in the kitchen, it was nutrition school that ignited a whole new meaning for me. Beginning to understand what words like organic, spray-free, minimally processed, and other common words really meant and the benefits of it all really sparked a stronger passion for me to get back to the roots of our food. This included getting to know more farmers, and getting back in the garden.
On an adventure across Canada, I explored the Yukon, spending five months working on a farm doing an internship. What an experience that was! Under the midnight sun I spent my days outside tending to animals, the garden or selling at the market. I had the opportunity to be a part of every step in the farming life, both with produce and animals. We often enjoyed meals created using only ingredients that were raised by the work of our hands. There is so much work that goes into raising and maintaining a farm, and it often doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves.
My goal in life is to be able to create a better connection and stronger relationship between us and our food. To help us become aware of the benefits that come with a balanced whole foods diet and living a healthy active lifestyle. Through this website I want to provide the services of a chef and nutritionist catering to you, while creating opportunities to educate and connecting around the topic of food!
